$16.95

Composer: Ary Ferreira

DIGITAL DOWNLOAD OR PHYSICAL COPY

Ary José Ferreira was Brazilian flutist, conductor, and composer. He studied in Rio de Janeiro and at the Vienna Academy of Music and Arts, being also known for premiering The Jet Whistle (Assobio a Jato) by Heitor Villa-Lobos, in 1950, with cellist Iberê Gomes Grosso. Ferreira also wrote a piano trio, this nocturne, and a symphonic poem for orchestra.

During his time, South American composers held a fascination with French arts, culture and especially with music. Ary Ferreira was under the influence of the impressionist music of Ravel and Debussy—he was, like others, drawn to the pastel musical colors, ambiguous and unresolved harmonies.
